Simplified Process Schematic
In the PLASCON® system, waste and reactants (oxygen) is injected into the extremely high temperature zone created by the argon from the Plasma Torch. After passing down the Reaction Tube, the residual gasses are rapidly cooled in the Quench. Acids are neutralised in the Scrubber, and after final polishing in the Packed Column, the remaining Off Gas is passed through a flare and then discharged. Off gasses are monitored for carbon monoxide, which serves as an indicator that the plant is processing optimallly. The aqueous solution containing the salts resulting from the neutralisation are discharged as liquid effluent.
